Mickoski: DUI buys votes, but can't escape from going in opposition

Skopje, 2 May 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said he was not considering or thinking about any coalition with DUI after the elections, adding that the April 24 election has shown an anti-government sentiment that should be respected and the voice of the people must be respected.

"What DUI does on the ground is not the will of the people, there's coercion, bribery. The people do not want that. There are testimonies about this. I must also mention the case with the municipality of Lipkovo in a polling station, regarding which there is also a ruling on irregularities from the Administrative Court. There are suspicions about other places, that it is also happening in Gostivar, Tetovo. Numerous irregularities are associated with DUI," Mickoski said in an interview with AlsatM TV, adding that despite DUI's vote buying it can't escape from going in opposition.

He pointed out that DUI cannot act as if this was a binational state.

Mickoski said the next government will crack down hard on the corruption brought by DUI and SDSM.

"We have a plan. Unfortunately, corruption in Macedonia has pandemic proportions. Unfortunately, with the amendments to the criminal code, the room for maneuver and for the search for a crime that the new government could search for within its investigative capacities is limited," Mickoski said, announcing formation of an anti-corruption front, without which, he added, the country will not be able to develop in any segment in society, in the economy, education, healthcare.
