Gashi - Ibrahimović: North Macedonia and Montenegro foster brotherly ties and mutual EU aspirations

Skopje, 25 April 2025 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Friday with Montenegro Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, discussing the countries' EU integration processes.

Gashi and Ibrahimović agreed that EU accession is a guarantee for long-term stability and prosperity of countries in the Western Balkans and every step in this direction from any country is a success for the region as a whole and the Union itself, the Parliament said in a press release.

Interlocutors agreed that North Macedonia and Montenegro serve as models of multiethnic and multireligious cooperation, and examples of shared European values.

They also highlighted the countries' collaboration as NATO allies, contributing to regional and global stability and democracy.

On bilateral cooperation, Gashi and Ibrahimović said the countries share traditionally brotherly and friendly ties, with the tendency of continued advancement of cooperation on various levels.

Discussions also tackled the excellent cooperation between the countries' parliaments as one of the key factors in the EU integration process, with interlocutors agreeing there is always room for further enhancement of cooperation in various areas, reads the press release.
