Osmani: Parliamentary diplomacy key to strengthening bilateral ties with Japan
Skopje, 31 May 2022 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani during his visit to Japan held separate meetings with House of Representatives President Hiroyuki Hosoda and House of Councilors President Akiko Santō. During the talks, the interlocutors referred to the relations between North Macedonia and Japan, putting an emphasis on inter-parliamentary cooperation. They concluded that there is great potential for strengthening ties between the two legislative bodies, especially through the existing parliamentary groups for cooperation in both countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release. The talks tackled the economic cooperation between the two countries and opportunities to enhance business relations, especially in attracting Japanese investments. The presidents of House of Representatives and the House of Councilors voiced strong support for the North Macedonia’s European integration, which is an important precondition for the country's progress, but also for the overall stability of the Western Balkans. The interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the current security situation following the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as well as its impact on stability in Europe and Indo-Pacific region.
