Skopje, 20 October 2023 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said Friday that the party accepts the working groups on determining the date for the 2024 elections and urged for meetings to take place as soon as possible.

"(PM and SDSM leader) Dimitar Kovachevski is playing a strange 'macho' game that I do not understand. He did not want a leaders' meeting, he wanted working groups, ok we accept it. Now he is delaying the entire process out of who-knows-what reasons. The moment we get a signal from the other side or from Talat Xhaferi, we are prepared to nominate representatives who will take part in the process," Mickoski told reporters.

He added that VMRO-DPMNE is prepared for the proposals by SDSM over the elections.

"We will discuss whatever they put forward. Kovachevski can say the date and working groups can meet and talk," said Mickoski.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader noted there is also a problem with the State Election Commission, since it is currently operating with six out of seven members, with one member from the order of the opposition not appointed.

"We have two members from the opposition and the authorities are obstructing the nomination of the third," said Mickoski.

He urged for reason and said the issue of elections and SEC is not a 'macho' game.

"Here, I admit, they won, early elections will not happen, polls will be held in the regular slot," said Mickoski.
