Skopje, 6 June 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi, Transport Minister Blagoj Bochvarski, Agriculture Minister Ljupcho Nikolovski and Probishtip Mayor Dragan Anastasov oversaw on Monday construction works along Probishtip-Lesnovo regional road.
“The season of road infrastructure construction works is in full swing across the country. To my great satisfaction, we see here today the implementation of what has been promised and planned. Building and connecting, modernizing infrastructure to improve daily life of the citizens is high on the Government’s list of priorities,” said Kovachevski.
He added that the Probishtip-Lesnovo road section, which is 3.4 km long, is being renewed as part of the rehabilitation works along this regional road.
“The reconstruction of this road is of vital importance not only for the municipality of Probishtip, but for the development of regional tourism. Lesnovo attracts a large number of tourists, and the reconstruction will significantly contribute to better conditions and further development,” the PM stressed.
He added that the Government was committed to the construction of safe and modern road infrastructure and reconstruction of a number of roads in the country.
“Since 2017, over 1,000 kilometers of roads have been constructed and reconstructed. More than EUR 1 billion have been invested in construction and modernization of the road network in the country,” Kovachevski noted.
Meeting the needs of the citizens at local level, he stressed, is particularly important for the Government. That is why, he added, we’re investing over EUR 250 million in support to municipalities and improving conditions in local communities through several different programs and projects at different stages of development.
“These are innovative projects that improve energy efficiency, working conditions in healthcare facilities, better infrastructure for water supply and waste treatment plants, and connecting local roads which facilitates travel, transport and daily life of citizens. A developed road infrastructure is vital for the development of economy, and that is why even amid the greatest crisis we invest in these projects. These are investments in safe travel, efficient connection and transport of products of companies for economic development of the country,” Kovachevski said.
