Grubi and Angelov oversee firefighting efforts in Kumanovo region
Kumanovo, 5 August 2021 (MIA) – First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi visited Thursday the Kumanovo region as it is being affected by wildfires. “We’re making utmost efforts to help residents, firefighters, soldiers and the police deployed at sites hit by active fires,” said Grubi who was joined by Crisis Management Center Director Stojanche Angelov. The government, Grubi’s office said, at two session held today passed important decisions to address the outbreak of wildfires. Image preview Earlier, the government declared 30-day nationwide state of crisis. At a session held later today, the government decided to put at disposal, without charge, oil derivatives from the commodity reserves after a request made by the Protection and Rescue Directorate. Under the decision, the Commodity Reserves Agency is tasked with providing 5,000 litres of Eurodiesel from the commodity reserves for the Protection and Rescue Directorate. Also, the government, under the decision on declaring state of crisis, tasked the general secretariat to conduct a procedure with negotiations without issuing tender to procure 15,000 litres of jet fuel for the Protection and Rescue Directorate. On Tuesday, North Macedonia introduced a full ban on movement in forests across the country in a bid to prevent the outbreak of wildfires. Also on Thursday, there were 18 active wildfires in the Skopje region alone.
