Grkovska - Son: Coordinated work to overcome division on all grounds

Skopje, 24 February 2023 (MIA) - Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska met Friday with United Nations (UN) Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Gwi-Yeop Son, and UN Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak. Deputy PM Grkovska thanked for the United Nation's support to North Macedonia over the past 30 years, particularly in terms of key issues on which the country's development and progress depends. Participants in the meeting discussed the need for the region of the Western Balkans to jointly and coordinately work to overcome division between citizens on all grounds, as well as greater involvement of young people in the creation of active policies to deal with corruption and build an efficient system that offers opportunities based on quality and knowledge. 

Grkovska said her cabinet is particularly focused on working with young people, noting that young people, along with women, are the bearers of change.UN Regional Director Gwi-Yeop Son pointed out that North Macedonia's priorities in terms of fulfilling the EU membership criteria are in direct synergy with the sustainable development goals. 

"Interlocutors also discussed about coordinated approach and opposition to hate speech, an issue that is becoming a problem in alsmost all countries in the region," Grkovska's office said in a press release.
