Gjurchinovski visits troops helping Slovenia's flood relief efforts

Skopje, 25 August 2023 (MIA) — Chief of the General Staff of the Army Lieutenant Colonel General Vasko Gjurchinovski accompanied by Ambassador of North Macedonia to Slovenia, Goran Milevski and Joint Operations Command commander Brigadier General Besnik Emini paid a visit to the army members taking part in Slovenia's flood relief efforts in Mezica, Slovenia.
During the meeting, Gjurchinovski praised their professionalism and dedication to remediating the consequences of the catastrophic floods, a press release from the General Staff said.
The chief of defense stressed the importance of partnership and solidarity between North Macedonia's army and Slovenia's army, which are the result of the excellent mutual relations and the alliance within NATO.
During their vizit to Mezica, Gjurchinovski, Milevski and Emini paid a visit to some of the municipalities where cleanup activities took place.
"The contingent of 100 army members from North Macedonia helping Slovenia deal with the consequences from the floods in Mezica, Crna na Koroskem, Zerjav and Prevalje participated in cleanup activities in vital facilities, sports fields, streets, cultural centers, private housing facilities, and bridge reconstruction," the release reads.
Army members were also commended by the Slovenian military leadership and Minister of Digital Transformation Emilija Stojmenova Duh. ssh/mr
