FM Mucunski meets with Turkish Ambassador Ulusoy, UNHCR Representative Gualano de Godoy 

Skopje, 17 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski held meetings Wednesday with Turkish Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy and the UNHCR Representative in the country, Ambassador Gabriel Gualano de Godoy.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foriegn Trade, at the meeting with the Turkish Ambassador, interlocutors voiced satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations in the spirit of the traditional friendship between the two countries. At the same time, they voiced their mutual commitments to the enhancement of economic and business relations, as well as complete utilization of the potential for cooperation in tourism. Mucunski also voiced sincere gratitude for the helicopter and two firefighting planes deployed by Turkey to aid the efforts to combat wildfires in the country. Additionally, the Minister and Ambassador reaffirmed the strong partnership within NATO and the efforts to maintain regional stability in an altered geopolitical context.

In his conversation with the UNHCR Representative in the country, Gabriel Gualano de Godoy, Mucunski stressed that in accordance with the Government’s priorities for the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms, with a focus on persons provided international protection, the country will remain committed to the fulfillment of the obligations from the international and legal instruments of the UNHCR over the development of innovative solutions aimed at managing global migration.

Interlocutors exchanged views over the cooperation between the UNHCR Office and the relevant institutions, voicing hope that it will successfully continue in the future as well.
