Xhaferi - Hulmann Marti: Highly appreciating Swiss support in democratic development

Skopje, 7 February 2024 (MIA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi met Wednesday with the Ambassador of Switzerland to North Macedonia, Véronique Hulmann Marti and confirmed the countries' commitment to cooperation, mutual respect and friendship, while expressing satisfaction over the 30 years of diplomatic ties.

Caretaker Xhaferi said that in the past 30 years, both countries have established excellent cooperation on all levels - Government, Parliament and citizens, highlighting the Macedonian community living in Switzerland that acts as a strong bridge between the countries, the Government said in a press release.

He also noted that North Macedonia highly appreciates the Swiss Confederations' support for the country's development.

"As our largest bilateral donor, Switzerland's support for North Macedonia has helped not only its democratic development, but it is also implemented into our European integration process," Xhaferi stressed.

Ambassador Hulmann congratulated Xhaferi on his election, pointing out that North Macedonia has once again proved itself as a successful example of a functional multiethnic democracy, setting standards that other counties in the region and the world should follow.

"Acknowledging the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Hulmann expressed satisfaction with the many results both countries have achieved during that period and said they can be proud of the success.

Interlocutors also discussed current issues related to the internal political environment in the country and upcoming elections.
