Mickoski on UK deal: No one has asked me to build migrant camps

Skopje, 18 May 2025 (MIA) – In his speech at VMRO-DPMNE Women's Union 20th annual conference at Skopje's City Park, Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski also spoke about the recently announced Strategic Partnership Agreement with the United Kingdom. "No one has asked me and it has never crossed my mind to build migrant camps," he said.

According to Mickoski, the deal with the UK is aimed at strengthening friendship, economic growth and cooperation. It does not include any provision on building migrant camps, he said, dismissing rumors.

"This deal is my new deal for Macedonia following the example of the historic one announced by US president Roosevelt," Mickoski said.

"This deal is about creating jobs, development, progress, a lot of new infrastructure projects, a lot of gigantic projects we have never seen before, investments in high-speed rail, highways and roads, hospitals, education and other sectors.

"This is a deal that will bring money into Macedonia to work and invest in progress worth six million euro!" he said.

This year's VMRO-DPMNE Women's Union conference is held under the motto "Women Thunderous for Macedonia." It is dedicated to the 20 years of the union's fight for women's rights and representation in politics and society. mr/
