Toshkovski - Lawson: Cooperation on professional level, support in fight against corruption and organized crime

Skopje, 25 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski met Thursday with British Ambassador Matthew Lawson, expressing gratitude for the excellent cooperation and the United Kingdom’s ongoing support for the country and the ministry regarding security, especially the latest donation of drones that will be used by border patrols.

Minister Toshkovski illustrated the Government's priorities and its commitment in the fight against organized crime and corruption, the plan to reorganize administrative services into a successful service system for its citizens, plans to improve the overall police efficiency through systematization, creating a system for continuous training, and digitization of numerous processes in the ministry, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

"Police cooperation is at a high and professional level, which means a rapid, high-quality and efficient exchange of operational knowledge, i.e. regularly addressing requests of both countries for various types of checks in all forms of organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking, crimes related to illegal migration, drug and arms trafficking, which we plan on improving," Toshkovski said.

Ambassador Lawson congratulated Minister Toshkovski on the Government's commitment, especially in the fight against organized crime and corruption, noting that the United Kingdom remains one of our country's greatest partners both on an operational and strategic level. He also highlighted illegal migration as a significant problem that both countries are dealing with, and highlighted the United Kingdom's support in dealing with this issue in the future. ssh/ik/
