Skopje, 2 August 2023 (MIA) — The Struga village of Tashmarunishta marked the 120th anniversary of the Ilinden Uprising and the 79th anniversary of ASNOM with a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial to the two Ilindens and a gathering at the St. Archangel Michael church.

The ceremony was attended by members of the public, World War II veterans, and political party representatives, including VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski.

"Let us never forget who we are and where we come from. May our ideal live forever and may the Republic of Macedonia be ours forever," VMRO-DPMNE Struga representatives said.

The celebration started with the sound of the church bells, followed by music and dance performances.

The village of Tashmarunishta is considered the site of one of the bloodiest battles during the Ilinden Uprising of 1903. mr/
