Skopje, 13 November 2023 (MIA) - Skopje is marking Monday the 79th World War II liberation anniversary, with various delegations paying respects at the Partisan Cemetery in Skopje and the "Liberators of Skopje" monument at the Government plateau.
Numerous events, workshops, exhibitions and promotions will take place within the observances.
The City of Skopje will present the "November 13" award to individuals and institutions promoting the perpetual values in science, art, health, arts, education and sport.
On Nov. 13, 1944, the 42nd and 50th division of the National Liberation Army and the 16. Macedonian brigade liberated Skopje from fascist rule. After days of fierce and steady combat against the German 22nd Infantry Division and the “Angermiler” Brigade, the fighters victoriously marched in the city.
