Negotino, 26 July 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Friday during a trip to Serta Mountain announced that the crisis management sector will undergo reforms and the law on firefighting will be amended. He also thanked the people battling the blazes on Serta for several days, which was fully put out earlier this week, the government said. 

According to the press release, Mickoski accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ljupcho Dimovski, lawmakers, mayors and the Crisis Management Center director visited the fire-hit spot “to shake the hands of the brave people who in the past few weeks at moments had risked their lives in order to save as much as possible of the area not to be caught by the raging wildfire.”

In the coming period, the government, said Mickoski, will implement major structural reforms in the crisis management sector, which is of key importance. At the same time, a procedure for amending the firefighting law has been kicked off, which will allow the working conditions for these people to be improved significantly. 

I came here to express huge gratitude to the people who in the past few weeks had sacrificed their lives to battle the blazes. Thank you on my behalf and on behalf of the government. I wish it didn’t happen again, but if it did, I know they would again put themselves at risk if it was necessary. We will do everything in our power to improve the working conditions of these people,” the PM stated, said the press release.
