Official COVID-19 tally: 72 new cases, 20 reported reinfections

Skopje, 3 June 2022 (MIA) — Of the 1,124 SARS-CoV-2 tests done in North Macedonia's laboratories over the past 24 hours, 72 came back positive for the virus. Of them, 20 were confirmed reinfections. And two deaths have been added to the coronavirus death toll, which has now reached 9,309, health authorities said Friday.
According to the Ministry of Health citing Institute of Public Health data, there are now 504 active SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide, of which 339 in Skopje.
Officially, 54 people recovered from their acute COVID-19 infection.
Of the new SARS-CoV-2 infections, 53 were diagnosed in Skopje. New coronavirus cases were also reported in Bitola – 8, Tetovo, Ohrid and Berovo – 2 each and Kumanovo, Prilep, Shtip, Kochani and Gevgelija – one new case in each town.
The most recent deaths from SARS-CoV-2, of people aged 74 and 82, were logged by health authorities between May 24 and 28 in Veles and in Ohrid. One person died at home, and the other died in hospital.
Since the start of the pandemic, 9,309 people have died in North Macedonia from SARS-CoV-2.
The country's health authorities have performed a total of 2,058,297 coronavirus tests, officially logging 312,157 SARS-CoV-2 cases and declaring 302,344 recoveries. mr/
