Mickoski: VMRO-DPMNE remains a party of the people, will work on building unique positions on strategic issues

Велес, 17 јуни 2024 (МИА) – Addressing the event titled “34 years of VMRO-DPMNE, 131 years of VMRO, legacy, freedom, future, we continue”, VMRO-DPMNE leader and PM-designate Hristijan Mickoski expressed respect to all his predecessors and members of the party, pointing out that the party is now united and strong and remains what it has always been - a party of the people. Mickoski said that VMRO-DPMNE will form the new government in a few days, sending a message to the future officials to roll up their sleeves because hard work and strong reforms are ahead.

"No one in this hall here is allowed to deviate. We neither have a hundred days nor a grace period... None of you can have private businesses and run institutions. You must not remain inaccessible to the citizens. VMRO-DPMNE exists for Macedonia," Mickoski said, calling for hard work, honesty, fulfilment and transparency.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader said despite the differences with SDSM and other parties, he will work on building unique state positions on strategic issues for the country. "I lend a hand for Macedonian national unity," Mickoski said.

Commenting on reports that too many posts have been given to the parties from the 'Worth It' coalition, the VMRO-DPMNE leader and PM-designate said "we neither give nor take", adding that as long as the coalition partners work in line with the law, they will be equal partners.

"Should anyone deviate, they will be immediately sanctioned, including from our party, they will be held accountable," said Mickoski.

Addressing Monday's event at the national theatre in Veles, Mickoski stressed that he will not deviate from the idea of Macedonia.

"I will treat all previous leaders with equal respect. The most important thing is that VMRO-DPMNE is united, strong and remains what it has always been - a party of the people. Long live the idea and the cause," Mickoski said.

He added that he will not allow "VMRO-DPMNE to turn into what SDSM was and is, nor the 'Worth It' coalition to turn into DUI".

"We will be resolving all issues with commitment. You will not be seeing double standards on my part, I will work in accordance with the Constitution and the laws in the country and I will not succumb to topics that distance and divide us," Mickoski pointed out.

Late on Sunday, the VMRO-DPMNE executive and central committee officially confirmed the names of the nominations for ministers from the Your Macedonia coalition. The next government will also include ministers from the Worth It coalition and ZNAM.

The new government is expected to be formed by Sunday midnight at the latest.
