Skopje, 8 March 2023 (MIA) — At his first meeting with the press, new Minister of Health Fatmir Mexhiti laid out his priorities in office: improve the traffic jams around the Clinical Center; update the list of prescription medications paid by the state; and increase the salaries of health workers.

Minister Mexhiti also announced a new Urgent Triage Center. He said he worked at the Clinical Center himself and as a doctor, he put his patients first.

Pointing out he had the support of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and the government, Mexhiti said that he and his team wanted to bring order to the healthcare system and improve conditions for all patients, not only in Skopje but all across the country. He also said his team would try to solve every problem and not shift the blame to anyone else.

He announced that new people would be appointed directors of the Neurology, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, and Dermatovenerology clinics as well as organizational directors of the Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Oncology Clinic.
