LDP leader Zajkova to be MP candidate in the first election district; ultimate goal is to join EU by 2030

Skopje, 19 March 2024 (MIA) - Monika Zajkova, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), announced Tuesday evening at the opening ceremony of the party's new headquarters in the Centar municipality that they will be contesting in the upcoming elections in the first election district, led by SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski. Zajkova stated that LDP also finalized the list of MP candidates.

Zajkova confirmed that she, as the party president, along with the party's general secretary, Bobi Mojsoski, and Dr. Ilija Neshkovski, will be running as candidates for MPs.

“The LDP has formed two teams. Ongoing negotiations focus on programmatic alignments with the coalition, given shared objectives. However, one thing is certain: our ultimate goal is to become a full-fledged member of the EU by 2030. Positions are also being negotiated, and yesterday the LDP finalized the list of candidates for MPs,” Zajkova added.

When asked about the announced formation of the European Front by DUI and whether the LDP will engage in discussions with DUI regarding this initiative, Zajkova said that the LDP is open to all progressive forces, welcoming any parties sharing similar visions and values.

During her speech at the headquarters opening, Zajkova underscored their commitment to advocating for higher pensions and salaries, better conditions for youth, combating corruption, reforming the judiciary and administration, as well as promoting democracy and freedom.

Zajkova said that April 24 and May 8 will prove that citizens know how to make the right choice and will not succumb to lies and empty populist promises. She added that choosing the European path is necessary to restore the dignity of citizens.
