Grkovska: Coordination of cyber security projects necessary for greater efficiency
Skopje, 25 August 2022 (MIA) – At a regular coordinative meeting Thursday with Information Society and Administration Minister, Admirim Aliti, Estonian e-Governance Academy (e-GA) and USAID representatives, as well as representatives from the Agency for Electronic Communications, working on cyber security projects, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies, Slavica Grkovska, emphasized the importance coordinating the cyber security projects of various sectors in order to avoid overlap but also to increase the cooperation and efficiency of the projects implemented with foreign support. “At the meeting, the attendees were introduced to the activities currently undertaken by the Ministry of Information Society and Administration together with the work group focusing on a few key aspects in the field of cyber security, such as energy, banking and finances, communications and technology, as well as building the digital resilience of the system,” said Grkovska’s Office in a press release. The head of the e-GA’s cyber security program, Merle Maigre, pointed out that a new cyber security project is being worked on with EU support which will include North Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro. She added that the activities will be shared with the team of the USAID-CIDR Project in order to avoid overlapping projects, but also to increase their efficiency. USAID Representative Dawn Carmin welcomed Grkovska’s initiative and emphasized that regular coordination with the e-GA will be of great importance in the realization of the projects. Deputy PM Grkovska announced that representatives from the Ministry of Defence, where cyber security activities are being undertaken as well, will join the regular coordinative meetings. ad/ba/
