Skopje, 10 November 2024 (MIA) - Science is an area which the new Government is seriously committed to. For us, it is completely clear that there is no other alternative for national prosperity except to invest in the knowledge of the citizens and science, Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska wrote in a Facebook post Sunday on occasion of November 10 - World Science Day for Peace and Development.
The budget for science and research activities for 2025 will be almost double the one in 2024, Janevska said, with the intention being to raise it up to at least 1 percent of gross domestic product over the next four years, as opposed to the current 0.3 percent.
“We will try to create better conditions for science and research. We will support scientific and research projects that are of public interest, as well as greater activity of laboratories within public science institutions and universities. We will secure new sources of scientific literature; finance published scientific articles; organize domestic science conferences and participate in international events,” Janevska wrote in her post.
