Gov’t: Number of Macedonian soldiers increased to Kosovo's NATO-led international peacekeeping force KFOR

Skopje, 24 October 2023 (MIA) – The government at its Tuesday’s session adopted a decision amending the decision of sending members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia to participate in Kosovo's NATO-led international peacekeeping force KFOR.

The decision envisages an increase in the participation of members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia in the KFOR operation in the Republic of Kosovo by sending an additional platoon of 35 soldiers, the government said in a press release.

The decision was made on the basis of the recommendations of the NATO’s senior military representatives and the conclusions reached at the meeting of the Chiefs of General Staff of the member countries of the defence cooperation initiative, aimed at increasing safety and security of the Republic of Kosovo.

70 members of the Army are being sent to participate in the NATO operation for a period of six months, from November 2023 to May 2024.

By amending the decision, a total of 101 members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia will participate in the NATO-led KFOR peacekeeping force.
