Gov’t approves text of North Macedonia – Portugal Defense Cooperation Agreement

Skopje, 5 September 2023 (MIA) – At its 182nd session on Tuesday, the Government of North Macedonia approved the text of the Defense Cooperation Agreement between North Macedonia and the Portuguese Republic, said the Government in a press release.
The goal of the agreement, according to the Ministry of Defense, is the establishment of a framework for cooperation in defense between the two parties, in line with international law, the national legislations of the two parties, as well as all the agreements that the two parties have signed.
“With this agreement, the defense cooperation on a bilateral level and within the frameworks of the North Atlantic Treaty is being outlined and developed, ensuring continuity and an intensification of cooperation within the frameworks of the partnership with the Portuguese Republic, both on the bilateral level, and in the NATO and EU context. The close military cooperation is expected to contribute to the strengthening of collective and individual capabilities, security, territorial integrity of the parties, and international peace and stability,” said the Government.
