FM Osmani holds phone call with his Estonian counterpart Reinsalu
Skopje, 16 August 2022 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani talked over the phone on Tuesday with the new Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu. FM Osmani expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations between the two countries and reaffirmed the commitment to develop cooperation, especially in the field of digitalization, using the Estonian experience of modernization and digitalization. The talks focused on the future of the EU enlargement process in light of the opening of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release. Minister Osmani thanked for the continuous and strong support from Estonia, emphasizing the historical importance of holding the First Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels, which represents a new chapter in relations with the European Union. In the phone conversation, Osmani briefed his Estonian colleague on the future steps and reforms that are being carried out in North Macedonia, and are related to the course of negotiations and the promotion of good neighborly relations. Minister Reinsalu commended the bold decisions to find a solution to move the European process forward and confirm the European future of our country. In addition, he reaffirmed Estonian support for our European integration. “He welcomed our cooperation in NATO was welcomed, with special emphasis on the consequences for Europe caused by the Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as for the role of the Baltic countries in preserving the stability and security of the European continent,” reads the press release. They also exchanged opinions regarding forthcoming 2023 OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office of North Macedonia as well as other foreign policy issues.
