Skopje, 31 January 2023 (MIA) – Skopje’s Drama Theater will put on a performance of ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ in Slovenia on Wednesday, as part of the regional Ruta Grupa Triglav festival taking place on the stage of the Ljubljana City Theater between January 31 and February 4.  

‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ is a play by Simon Stephens based on the novel of the same name by Mark Haddon, and is directed by Zoja Buzalkovska.  

The cast includes Damjan Cvetanovski, Trajanka Ilieva Veljikj, Aleksandar Stepanuleski, Emilija Micevska Trajkovikj, Sonja Stamboldzhioska, Jasmina Vasileva, Filip Trajkovikj, Stefan Vujisikj, Zlatko Mitreski and Nela Pavlovska.  

Konstantin Trpenoski is set designer, Elena Vangelovska and Rade Vasilev are costume designers, David Angelovski is the music author, Simon Simonovski is the choreographer, while 3D video mapping design is by Osama Almughanni.  

The play premiered in December 2021, and has had some fifteen performances so far.  

Director Zoja Buzalkovska notes that what makes ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ an exciting material to work with is the theme that it opens, i.e. Christopher’s world, the world of the “special”, the “different”, the “outsider”.  

“At a time when many societies, including ours, fight for the inclusion of people with special needs, working on such a current material seems extremely important. In that sense, the play will also have an educational function and will be able to set the young teenage audience as one of its target groups,” said Buzalkovska.
