Dimitrov-Roth: North Macedonia can rely on continued German support
Skopje, 9 December 2021 (MIA) – Deputy PM for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov met Thursday in Berlin with Michael Roth, Bundestag member and Minister of State for Europe until yesterday. “Over the course of our cooperation, I managed to witness up-close with the values you represented during your time in office, as well as Germany’s principled positions and the consistency when it comes to Europe’s completion with the regional countries,” said Deputy PM Dimitrov. He expressed assurance that Germany would continue to act towards strengthening the Union’s credibility, with North Macedonia always having Michael Roth as its ally and friend in those efforts, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release. “Yesterday I left the office of Minister of State for Europe. Let me express my gratitude to the Macedonians and many friends in the Western Balkans. Your people deserve the best – the EU perspective. The new government remains committed to this, the three parties that have formed the new executive are working hard on reaching a wise solution to overcome bilateral disputes,” said Roth. His message to North Macedonia is to not give up, because Brussels and the EU will keep their promise. “People in North Macedonia have achieved a lot, and I know this road is a long and thorny one, but worthy at the end. The current European perspective guarantees jobs, prosperity, stability, peace, regional reconciliation and rule of law, observance of ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. I wish you all the best and thank you for the excellent cooperation with my friend Nikola and many others, including NGO representatives. Don’t give up! My message to friends in Brussels and across the EU – let’s keep our promises. We must deliver,” said Roth.
