Skopje, 11 May 2023 (MIA) - Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs resumed on Thursday the discussion on the draft amendments to Labour Relations Law, under a fast-track procedure. The discussion is to continue on Friday.
During the afternoon discussion, opposition lawmakers asked their colleagues from the ruling parties how they would vote on amendments to laws for a project for which they had not seen, what was foreseen in the agreement signed by the Government. They criticized them of forcing the workers to work 72 hours a week outdoors instead of the usual 40 hours. In the amendments to the law, as they said, there is nothing European and therefore there is no need to consider it in an EU flag procedure.
SDSM MP Martin Kostovski said that working hours will not be increased and that the workers will receive overtime pay.
Lawmakers adopted on Wednesday draft amendments, proposed by the government, to the Law on Determining Public Interest and nominating a strategic partner for the Corridor 8 infrastructure construction project (on highway sections Tetovo – Gostivar – Bukojchani and Trebenishta – Struga – Kjafasan) and Corridor 10d (on highway section Prilep – Bitola) as well as Law on Spatial and Urban Planning, the Law on Construction, the Law on Expropriation, and the Labor Relations Law, all of them EU-flagged to accelerate their adoption.
In line with the EU-flag procedure, the government-proposed bills will be reviewed by the Committee on European Affairs.
