Skopje, 15 February 2023 (MIA) - Opportunities for strengthening the economic cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Kingdom were discussed at the meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to the Western Balkans Martin Vickers.

Vickers expressed his country's readiness to support and finance projects in the energy sector, especially in renewable energy, but also in North Macedonia's road and railway infrastructure, the government said in a press release.

At the meeting Vickers was joined by his assistant Julie Wong, the British Ambassador, Matthew Lawson, Chargé d'affaires Julia Smith and Nikola Stojanovski, director of the Department for International Trade.

“Deputy Prime Minister Bytyqi thanked Mr. Vickers for the UK’s continued support to the country, adding that he is particularly honored by the expressed interest of the United Kingdom in investments in the energy sector and in the road and railway infrastructure, as a country with great experience and confirmed positive results in the above-named sectors,” reads the press release.
