Bislimoski: Misconduct in energy market to be penalized with portion of revenue

Skopje, 6 November 2024 (MIA) - The new Law on Energy provides the regulator with competencies in the process of market connectivity with neighboring countries in order to increase competitiveness, reduce prices, greater investments, Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) president Marko Bislimoski said on Wednesday.

"We take part in market connectivity between Greece, Macedonia, Albania, and Kosovo through an USAID project. The main goal is to become integrated into the pan-European market. The new Law on Energy will lead to market liberalization and encouraging investments. With this process of market integration, our companies will have the opportunity to take part in the markets of neighboring countries," Bislimoski noted.

According to him, the ERC and the Law on Energy facilitate supervision of energy and natural gas markets.

"We developed a monitoring platform that processes data from market stakeholders and any misconduct can lead to court proceedings. Misconduct in the energy market will be penalized with a portion of the revenue," Bislimoski explained. ssh/ik/
