Skopje, 24 April 2025 (MIA) - I believe we will successfully complete an investment plan worth EUR 5-6 billion in the coming period, resulting in the construction of roads, railways, clinical centers and ski resorts, says Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
"Once we come to an agreement, I will sit down with the chambers of commerce and have an open discussion regarding the country's capacity to realize these investments. I am certain we have the capacity but we required good organization. Everything will be presented to the public in the next couple of months," PM Mickoski told podcast "Kade se parite".
According to him, EUR 0.5-1 billion would be intended for the construction of local, regional and express roads.
"Some will be rehabilitated, others will be constructed. The terms are being negotiated. This will not be a loan because the GDP will rise," adds Mickoski.
Other projects include the completion of the Clinical Center in Shtip, the construction of the hospital in Kichevo and reconstruction of the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo.
"Then the fast rail within Corridor X, with passenger trains moving at the speed of 160km/h and cargo trains at 110km/h. This wave of investments will stand at EUR 2.3-2.5 billion," notes Mickoski.
Regarding his recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, the PM says he held high-level meetings with the country's leadership and the business community, which is expected to visit North Macedonia in May or June.
"The projects we discussed are ones at existing locations in Ohrid, namely through buyout from the current owners, of course with full consideration for the UNESCO restrictions, the Popova Shapka ski resort, a landmark project at the site of the army barracks in Skopje, Chebren and Galishte hydropower plants, solar and wind power plants etc. I expect these investments to be worth between EUR 2-3 billion," says Mickoski.
