Skopje, 16 October 2023 (MIA) - Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs Arber Ademi participated in the 2023 Civil Society and Think Tank Forum (CSF) dedicated to strengthening the European future of the Western Balkans, which was held October 14-15 in Tirana.
Ademi addressed a panel on "Enhancing the Berlin Process through Accountability Mechanisms," held as part of the forum, pointing out that the Parliament should be involved in the Berlin Process, given its legislative and controlling role in society.
In the context of the benefits of the Berlin Process, Ademi highlighted the signing of the three mobility agreements which were ratified in the Parliament and the practical benefits for citizens in their everyday life.
Ademi noted that representatives from parliaments in the region have adopted a declaration on the role of parliaments in the Berlin Process, in which the parliaments are required to take part in the Berlin Process as representatives of citizens. He expressed hope that a positive decision will be made at the upcoming Berlin Process Summit on October 16 in Tirana, regarding the Western Balkans parliaments' request for participation and becoming active stakeholders at the next summit.
The forum calls on the Government to develop mechanisms on accountability and inform Parliaments on the commitments taken between participants in the Berlin Process, said the Parliament. ssh/nn/
