Judicial Council appoints Xhemali Saiti as acting president of Supreme Court

Judicial Council appoints Xhemali Saiti as acting president of Supreme Court

Skopje, 10 March 2025 (MIA) - With 10 votes in favor and two against, the Judicial Council appointed judge Xhemali Saiti as acting president of the Supreme Court until the election of a new president. Saiti will assume the post on March 13.

At the Judicial Council session on Monday, it was noted that the term of current Supreme Court president Besa Ademi is set to end on March 12, while the procedure for the election of her successor is still underway, which is why the Council had to elect an acting president.

Judicial Council Hanif Zendeli put forward Saiti’s name for the post since, he said, current president Besa Ademi and Afrim Fidani are candidates for the post and should not be appointed as acting presidents to avoid giving them a boost in the election.
