Truck drivers protest over EUR 2,100,000 owed to them by former Feni Industries

Kavadarci, 24 September 2024 (MIA) — Truck drivers outsourced by the Kavadarci-based ferronickel producer Euronickel, formerly Feni Industries, which employed around 800 workers and entered bankruptcy proceedings in February, staged a peaceful protest over compensation owed to them, MIA's Kavadarci correspondent reports.

According to Trajche Peovski, president of the local truck drivers association Kiperski Prevoznici, they were owed EUR 2,100,000.

Peovski said protesters demanded to be paid the money they were owed by Euronickel for their transportation services. They were also protesting over "the bank's direct influence on the bankruptcy proceedings," he said.

"We were promised a solution to our problem, but nothing has come of it yet, after all this time. So we have organized this peaceful protest to express our dissatisfaction," he said.

Peovski said the truck drivers wanted to meet with the competent authorities and find a viable solution.

"We will not stop here," he said. "Going forward, we will radicalize our protests at several locations in the city and the country until our demands are met." mr/
