Mucunski: Taravari's actions help DUI, VMRO-DPMNE cannot cooperate with someone doing that

Skopje, 25 April 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, who is also the VMRO-DPMNE vice-president, says he is disappointed by the actions of Health Minister and Alliance of Albanians bloc leader Arben Taravari that help DUI, adding that VMRO-DPMNE should not cooperate with those collaborating with "the unreformed DUI".

FM Mucunski told Sitel he expects that a common understanding would be found at the coming meeting of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski with Taravari. Regarding the possibility of double elections in October - local and early parliamentary - he says all options are on the table, while adding that decisions should not be based on emotions but the rational needs of the people and the economy.

"The parliamentary majority is stable and there is no dilemma about this. As much as he would like to politicize the topic, I believe that the opposition leader knows this as well. The PM said a few days ago that people will soon have a say about the ruling and opposition parties at the elections. It is a fact that Vlen (Worth It) is in a specific situation and I am disappointed with some of the developments there, having in mind that we all took steps to send the party that kidnapped the state through crime and other actions into opposition. This was a positive thing for the entire society, I know that DUI now wants to portray this as a struggle of Macedonians versus Albanians, which is absolutely not right. The problem that the society had with was DUI, not Albanians. Now, someone is again taking actions to help these destabilization factors in the Macedonian society is the wrong way of doing things, goes against European values we are all talking about and it is not something that deserves encouragement," says Mucunski.

Asked about his opinion on Taravari, Mucunski says he is disappointed that his actions help DUI.

"I am really disappointed with Taravari, a person who I hold in high esteem and an individual we should build a future with, and yet we see his actions helping DUI. He built his presidential campaign on the topic of change, we are doing these changes in the field and I hope that the Vlen coalition will find common ground. But of course, I believe that VMRO-DPMNE should not cooperate with those who collaborate with this unreformed DUI," notes Mucunski.

On the probability of Taravari staying in the Government, the FM says he expects "that the voice of reason will prevail."

Regarding the possibility of double elections in October, he says the wisest decision for both the citizens and the economy should be taken.

"VMRO-DPMNE is a party with a strong structure, motivated members and there is no doubt about the result even if the elections take place in a month from now. Therefore, all options are on the table but let me repeat, we should not take decisions based on emotions but the rational needs of our citizens and our economy," underlines Mucunski.
