Toshkovski: MoI cooperation with Republic Council on Road Safety leads to greater road safety

Skopje, 22 July 2024 (MIA) — Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski held a working meeting with Republic Council on Road Safety head Gordana Kozhuvarovska.


According to an official press release, the meeting confirmed the excellent cooperation between the two institutions. Minister Toshkovski said the institutional partnership led to increasing safety for all traffic participants.


Toshkovski and Kozhuvarovska discussed the legal obligations of the Republic Council on Road Safety to allocate part of its budget to supporting the Ministry of Interior's activities toward greater road safety. 

 


They also talked about launching campaigns to raise awareness of the legal regulations on driving safely, wearing a seat belt, obeying the speed limit, and not using a cell phone at the wheel, Toshkovski said.


The minister pointed out that the ongoing campaign "Drive Well-Rested" was aimed at educating drivers going on vacation or passing through the country that long-distance drivers need to take breaks of 10-15 minutes every three hours to make sure they arrive safely at their destination.


In addition to the joint campaign activities with the Ministry of Interior, the Republic Council on Road Safety has collaborated on the road safety campaign with the Serbian Road Traffic Safety as well, the release notes. mr/
