Timely prevention and control avert surge in CCHF infections, says Health Minister

Skopje, 15 August 2023 (MIA) – The swift reaction of the health authorities prevented an exponential growth of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) infections, said Health Minister Fatmir Mexhiti at a meeting Tuesday with the members of the Infectious Diseases Commission.
In a press release, the Health Ministry said the meeting, which was initiated by Mexhiti, analyzed the current situation with CCHF infections in the country.
According to the Minister, the medical system responded timely and appropriately after the first cases of CCHF were detected in the country.
“The Ministry of Health and all medical institutions responded timely and professionally, and also procured the appropriate medication, which, despite its rarity, was delivered to our country in 24 hours,” said Mexhiti.
The Health Minister said he remains in constant communication and consultation with the Infectious Diseases Commission, the Public Health Institute, the University Clinic for Infectious Diseases, and added that if the need arises, appropriate measures will be proposed in order to raise the level of prevention.
At the meeting, Minister Mexhiti voiced gratitude to all medical workers for their efforts to respond to the needs of the patients.
