Students to hold march demanding their rights
Skopje, 17 November 2022 (MIA) – The university student assemblies of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (UKIM), South East European University, FON, American College, and other student organizations will demand their rights by marching from the government building to the Ministry of Education and Science on Thursday afternoon. The Student Assembly of UKIM stated that this is a common struggle and only together can the students protect their rights and have their demands met: allocating budget funds for better conditions in the student dormitories, exemption of the students from the anti-crisis measures, full implementation of the law on student meals, equalizing scholarships, raising the quality of education and digitization. “We expect you on Thursday, on the occasion of International Students’ Day, to join together at 5:30pm for a big student march, where we will loudly and clearly express our demands. We invite everyone who is actively included in education, including high school students, professors, deans and rectors to support us and join the march. Let us all fight together for our student rights and a better standard for the students,” said the Student Assembly. Before the protest on Thursday, the Club on Youth Affairs and Policies in Parliament is set to hold a meeting with the Student Assembly, which, according to Student Assembly President Slavcho Temelkovski, will be focused on drafting an action plan to improve conditions in the student dormitories. The meeting is expected to be attended by the directors and presidents of the student dormitories and all of the student assemblies, MPs, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science. ad/ba/
