President awards

Skopje, 4 November 2024 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova awarded Monday the "Boris Trajkovski" scholarship for the academic 2024/2025 year to 20 students, who will continue their education at the CITY College, University of York Europe Campus.

The scholarships are the result of joint activity and cooperation between the President, Ministry of Education and Science, Boris Trajkovski Foundation, and CITY College, University of York Europe Campus.

Each scholarship is individually equal to the enrollment fee - EUR 14.890, of which 50 percent or EUR 7.445 per student will be covered by the Ministry of Education and Science, and the other 50 percent by CITY College.

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said there is no greater investment than in education, including postgraduate studies.

"Studying at CITY College is a true intellectual and life challenge for every young person who is determined to strengthen their knowledge, expand their horizons outside the home country, skillfully compete and befriend young people from different countries and cultures, learn from eminent professors, and improve," Siljanovska Davkova noted.

She called on scholarship recipients to continue President Boris Trajkovski's mission in building understanding, friendship, and good neighborliness.

"Continue President Boris Trajkovski's mission for building understanding, friendship, good neighborliness, and cooperation, in this case, through educational, scientific and cultural democracy between the two countries. Prove that education and knowledge brings people together," the President stressed.

Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska stated that the country supports educational mobility, including EU's policies for dealing with brain drain.

"The Government, through a multi-resource approach, is creating measures and activities to reduce the brain drain. We are strengthening the foundations on which we build the education system, working to align education with the needs of the labor market. The budget for education and science will increase significantly, and we will face the challenge of raising the quality of education. Dear scholarship recipients, I hope that you will take over your academic responsibilities seriously. You've earned it. And after two years we expect you to come home. I wish you the best of luck," Janevska added. ssh/ik/
