Skopje, 9 April 2025 (MIA) - The government will accept any agreement between the unions and employers on the minimum wage when it is reached within the framework of the economic-social dialogue, the government said in a press release after Wednesday’s meeting with union representatives.
The meeting with the unions addressed issues including the minimum wage, the collective agreement, and union representativeness. In addition to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Labour Besar Durmishi, his deputy Marjan Risteski, state secretary at the Ministry of Finance Julijana Petkanovska, and an advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office.
“The government’s position on raising the minimum wage is clear and in accordance with the law. Under the law, the government is required to determine the minimum wage level by March 31 at the latest. The government will accept any agreement between the unions and employers once it is reached within the framework of the economic-social dialogue. The government remains a partner to both workers and employers and is ready for dialogue at any time when requested by the parties involved in the process,” according to the government’s press release.
