Strumica, 26 February 2023 (MIA) - At the "Macedonia" monument built in honor of late Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski in his hometown, Strumica marked on Sunday the 19th anniversary of his death. 

Family members, friends, representatives of the local self-government, political parties, associations and citizens laid flowers at the monument to pay their respects. 

A delegation of the Government led by Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska and Public Procurement Bureau director Borche Hadzhiev, as wll as members of the Federation of European Carnival Cities (FECC), who are taking part in the Strumica carnival taking place in the city, also laid wreats at the monument.    

Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov paid tribute to President Trajkovski.  

"Boris Trajkovski was a statesman with many virtues, but above all he was human in the true sense of the word. That is why we say that on this day 19 years ago, we lost a relative, friend, fellow citizen and president, who with rarely seen wisdom and patience, held the highest state office in the country for four years. He led the country during a tumultuous, complex and sensitive period, and left indelible traces in the modern Macedonian history," said Kostadinov.
