Skopje, 22 July 2022 (MIA) – Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski visited the police station in Gjorche Petrov on Friday.
Minister Spasovski met the police officers, who were injured during last week’s protests in Skopje against the French proposal for the opening of EU negotiations.
In a Facebook post, Minister Spasovski acknowledged the sacrifice, commitment by the members of the Macedonian police in ensuring the peace and stability of citizens and vital buildings during the protests, wishing them a speedy recovery.
Spasovski reminded in the post that a total of 54 police officers were injured, of whom 11 were seriously injured, and two suffered more serious injuries, adding the fact that as no chemical agents were used by the police to disperse the protesters, not a single citizen was injured.
"I want to give special recognition to all the police officers who performed their daily duties and effectively implement measures, making right decisions, for their exceptional dedication and professionalism," Minister Spasovski wrote in the post.
Spasovski added that an attack on a policeman is an attack on the state, calling for higher level of awareness.
