Skopje sports center to reopen for vaccination: minister
Skopje, 21 August 2021 (MIA) – A vaccination site will be reopened at the Boris Trajkovski Sports Center in Skopje as vaccination rate goes up across the nation. This time it will be opened in the small sports hall starting Wednesday or Thursday, Health Minister Venko Filipche said Saturday. “I believe the [reopening] will ease the pressure on health centers offering vaccines,” he told reporters adding that the small hall will feature some 20 vaccination cabins. Urging the citizens to get vaccinated, Filipche said that enough vaccines are at disposal in the country. Hospitals in cities and towns with high vaccination rate are not overwhelmed with patients, he stressed. “People have to be aware that this won’t go away unless we are all vaccinated,” Filipche told reporters adding: “We must prevent another surge. Natural immunity reduces over time, so there’s no reason to wait. People who have recovered from COVID-19 now are required to get a shot within 45 days.” He mentioned that the EU has decided to accept North Macedonia’s digital COVID certificate, saying that the European certificate can be downloaded as of next week through a new app “My Health”. “We have all e-tools allowing the inspectors to make sure the citizens hold a credible document,” Minister Filipche said asked about the restriction introduced allowing only vaccinated people to go to bars and restaurants.
