Belgrade, 25 July 2022 (MIA) – Serbia’s Deputy PM and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said Monday in Tirana that ministers from North Macedonia and Albania have accepted Serbia’s initiative of setting up a joint working group for cooperation related to the energy crisis and on strategic projects, MIA reports from Belgrade. Deputy PM Mihajlovic said energy security in the region in time of crisis required solidarity, networking and joint work on strategic projects. “We are all under enormous pressure to ensure that everything will be fine during the winter but besides current supply problems, it is also important to discuss strategic projects and potential joint investments that would make the region more stable from an energy standpoint. We all have certain comparative advantages, deficiencies and a need to ensure long-term energy stability. Our proposal was to set up a working group that will focus on the problems during the coming winter but also on potential cooperation in large strategic projects, and I am pleased the other ministers accepted this proposal,” said Mihajlovic. She expects the working group to soon present proposals for joint investments to the countries’ top officials, be it on solar power plants, wind parks, market networking, gas interconnections, up to underground gas storages.
