PM says no time for political points, urges MPs to adopt energy-related laws and extension of state of crisis
Skopje, 28 September 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski called Wednesday on all lawmakers to support the law on the funds provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the energy crisis management, amendments to the Law on Energy and the Law on Oil and its Derivatives, as well as adopt the motion for extension of the state of crisis in the energy sector. PM Kovachevski told an extraordinary press conference this is no time for political points but for reason, solidarity and social care. “Tomorrow, the Parliament will hold a Q&A session and I urge MPs from all political parties to unite around the citizens’ interest and adopt the laws prior to this session. This is no time for political points but for reason, solidarity and social care,” noted Kovachevski. He once again urged the citizens to save electricity. “We will overcome this crisis together as we did with the COVID-19 crisis. I use this opportunity to urge citizens to continue with the savings. Each kilowatt of saved electricity is a saving for our budget and more money for investments in new energy and infrastructure projects that will improve future electricity supply and people’s lives. The time of electricity abundance in Europe is a thing of the past. Now is a time to save electricity so that we have electricity,” said Kovachevski.
