PM Kovachevski expects inflation rate to drop below 6 percent by year’s end

Skopje, 7 November 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Tuesday he expects the rate of inflation to be below six percent by the end of 2023.

“With all the measures we’ve taken, I am really optimistic that we will manage to bring the rate of inflation under six percent by the end of the year. We’ve already shown we are capable of halving it in just one year,” said Kovachevski.

According to Kovachevski, the results of the measures reducing the prices of basic food products are already showing effects, and, he said, this will be confirmed by the new data on the rate of inflation.

“I think this will happen today or tomorrow. I personally expect the rate of inflation compared to the previous month to change by no more than one percent, and to drop by four percent compared to the same month last year,” said the PM.

The Prime Minister said the list of products with “guaranteed price” would be expanded. At the same time, he said he expects an additional reduction of prices as a result of the draft law on unfair trade practices.
