Skopje, 16 May 2025 (MIA) - Enhancement of the economic cooperation with Turkey, especially in the field of investments, digital economy, green technologies and infrastructure networking, is of key importance for North Macedonia. We believe in the principle of mutual complementarity, not as rhetoric but as model for concrete results. North Macedonia offers stability, market predictability and European perspective, whereas Turkey offers experience, capital and regional ties. This combination is a mutual opportunity that should be utilized, said Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani in his address at the 9th Balkan Economic Summit in Skopje on Friday.
Minister Murtezani said Macedonian-Turkish relations are sincere, dynamic, strategic and oriented to the future.
"These are not only good ties, but joint understanding of the regional context, mutual support in crucial moments and coordinated steps in initiatives of common interest. Our bilateral cooperation is broad, from high-level politics, through defense, economy and trade, up to education and cultural exchange. Turkey is one of our country's most significant foreign partners in its economic development, and increasingly important, a partner that invests long-term interest in the stability and progress of the region as a whole," said Murtezani.
According to him, the Skopje event is another affirmation of the strong and friendly ties between North Macedonia and Turkey.
"These ties, which are deeply rooted into our common history and culture, are manifested through intensive cooperation in many areas, including economy. Today's forum is not only a platform for economic discussion but a proof of the region's dynamic connectivity. As a person who had the opportunity to study in Turkey, I deeply value the closeness and support between our two countries," said Murtezani.
He added that the Ministry of European Affairs is committed to creating a favorable business environment and promoting European standards in the national economy.
"We are working on improvement of the regulatory framework, reducing the red tape and ensuring transparency and predictability for investors. North Macedonia is moving firmly along the path of European integration, whereas economic cooperation and foreign investments are pivotal in reaching this strategic goal," underlined Murtezani.
