Gostivar, 20 April 2024 (MIA) — Slavjanka Petrovska, head of the SDSM and Coalition for European Future list of MP candidates from the Sixth Electoral District, joined by fellow party members and environmental activists, told a press conference Saturday that a healthy environment required a comprehensive approach, MIA's Gostivar correspondent reports.
"This is exactly what we did," Petrovska said. "By tapping into natural resources and creating responsible measures and policies, we turned Macedonia into a leader in the construction of renewable energy capacities."
She recalled that in the past two years, 600 megawatts of renewable energy sources had been installed in the country, mostly as photovoltaic power plants.
"What is important for this region is that we declared Shar Planina, our pearl, a National Park, correcting a decade-long injustice toward this natural beauty," Petrovska said.
Speaking about the coalition's election platform, she said another decade-long problem in the Polog region would be addressed through building regional landfills and procuring the needed equipment. mr/
