Skopje, 27 April 2025 (MIA) - I and the other party leaders in the European Front have no right to interfere if a party leader has meetings with other political parties. I have been told that Arben Taravari met with Ali Ahmeti on a couple of occasions and there is nothing wrong in this, said Alliance of Albanians (AA) leader Ziadin Sela on Sunday.
Asked about Taravari's possible coalition with the European Front after he split from the AA last year, Sela says the party will address the issue after it is put on the table.
"It is bad to build a political career based on assessments of other politicians, because then you would have to run like the devil from people taking your picture or learning that you held a meeting. Nevertheless, you have to face this. AA is not bothered by this," Sela told reporters.
According to him, the entire Albanian political bloc should unify, because "political actors have cancelled our right to just representation and want to cancel our right to a language."
"I said this in the first 100 days of this Government, in order to prevent what is happening now. All Albanian political stakeholders should unify," said Sela.
On the possibility of reuniting AA after Taravari's statements that "the door is open," Sela says he does not know what home Taravari would take them in, "because this home is mine, he has no home".
"It would be immoral for me to come out before the AA members and say that nothing happened, we were apart for a year and now we will come together again. Such a behavior from politicians who change positions on a daily basis and lie is not detrimental for Sela or the AA, it is detrimental for the citizens, leading to their feelings of apathy and lack of interest for politics," said Sela.
He urged the AA membership to come back so that the party continues to build and not divide.
"Taravari needs to apologize. Resignation is a politician's apology so he cannot do wrong anymore. Only then he can be a member of the AA," underlined Sela.
