Petkov meets EU ambassadors, talks include Bulgaria’s relations with North Macedonia
Sofia, 28 January 2022 (MIA) – Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov held his first meeting with ambassadors of European Union member states, at the initiative of French Ambassador to Bulgaria, Florence Robin, whose country currently holds the EU Presidency, reads an official press release. Talks tackled several topics, including fight against corruption and reform of the Bulgarian judicial system, as well as tensions on the border between Ukraine and Russia, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports. The Bulgarian PM stressed that diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions must continue. At the same time, however, he believes there should be readiness in the event of negative scenarios. Kiril Petkov also briefed the diplomats on the new dynamics in the relations between Bulgaria and North Macedonia and results of the recent meetings, adding that he relied on support of the European family.
