Skopje, 19 July 2024 (MIA) - The Swiss Government is a great supporter of local and regional development and cooperation should continue to secure an even more dynamic, sustainable and inclusive development, Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski and Swiss Ambassador Véronique Hulmann concluded at a meeting Friday.

Interlocutors noted that the Swiss Government’s assistance in the area of local self-government and regional development is being realized through two large projects that are exceptionally important for the implementation of policies and the realization of concrete infrastructure projects in all eight planning regions. 

Perinski stressed it is important that cooperation continues, since the Government, he said, is especially focused on the development of municipalities and the planning regions, providing additional funds from the central budget to that end. In that context, they stressed that cooperation can ensure an even more dynamic and sustainable development, in line with the needs and priorities of the citizens.

The Minister and Ambassador also discussed the continuation of the process of joint coordination of activities for the digitization of local services, the Ministry said.
